Mischievous MMS lands police in a spot

Mangalore July 25: Mangalore is caught in a vortex of obnoxious developments. First a Multimedia message showing two youngsters in sexual act goes around the city some of them got them free and some for money, secondly five persons have been taken into custody but the police are keeping mum about it.

It is estimated that more than 12,000 MMS pertaining to this video has been sent across the state and Mangalore appears to be on the top of the circulation according to sources in cyber law arm of the police. This comes under the cyber offences and the police are yet to reach to the bottom of it.

Even otherwise Mangalore has had several cases of pornographic video shooting as well as distribution of pornographic VCDs. According to the sources in the District Crime Investigation Bureau (DCIB) in the last five years there have been at least 3 cases of raids conducted on pornographic film making places usually in the lesser known lodges and hotels involving youngsters.

The latest circulation of a Multimedia Message that showed youngsters in the sexual act which was shot in one of the rooms of a lodge in the city. It was named ‘Mungaru Male’ (after a popular Kannada film) the message was circulated in the mobile phones all over the city. Police have swooped down to investigate on hotel Residency Gate in Bendoorwell in the city as the MMS carries the name of that hotel.

TV 9 ransack a black spot on Mangalore

It was a comedy of errors in the attack on TV9 office in Mangalore. It is true that the office was destroyed by hired goons they were subsequently arrested by the Mangalore police. It is also true that in the visual on the channel shows few persons belonging to the crowd in the Mall were shown in the story on the pornographic industry that thrives in Mangalore.

But putting the zig zag puzzle of the entire episode together gives a picture that is wrought in confusion, lack of clarity and unwanted and unwarranted attack on the TV9 Channel.

It all began with the circulation of a Multimedia Message that showed youngsters in the sexual act which was shot in one of the rooms of a lodge in the city. It was named ‘Mungaru Male’ (after a popular Kannada film) the message was circulated in the mobile phones all over the city.

Following up with this obnoxious development the Channel reporters made a story to warn the society in Mangalore about the growing menace of the pornographic films and the social malady that that accompanied it. The Channel in one its shots showing the highly fashionable parts of the city inadvertently scanned through the crowd at a popular Mall in the city in which was also incidentally shown without any special or implied intent.

When that story was aired on Friday the entire city sat up in disbelief that their youngsters were no more safe in the city from the pornographic film mafia. On the same evening the attack was carried on the channel by goons. The Channel authorities say that it was not the intention of the story to implicate or anybody but it was a general shot in which incidentally few persons who belong to the city have been shown.
